Four words. A few ground rules.
Effective October 8, 2026
These terms apply to participation in Four Word Pass, operated by the Four Word Pass project. By agreeing to these terms and releasing, claiming, contributing to, or ending a story, you agree to the rules below. Questions go to support@fourwordpass.com.
Who can participate
You must be at least 18 and able to enter into these terms. Use the app lawfully, provide an email you are entitled to use, and comply with any applicable PayPal sandbox requirements. No Four Word Pass account is required. Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.
This is a sandbox experiment
Checkout and payouts use PayPal sandbox test money. The displayed $2 release or fork price and $1 handoffs describe test transactions, not real charges or redeemable balances. There are no cash prizes, investments, deposits, cash-out rights, or promises of earnings. Do not send real money to participate.
Use sandbox buyer credentials on PayPal's sandbox checkout screens. Never enter a live PayPal password, card details, or bank credentials into Four Word Pass. App emails and public posts are real, even when the payment is a test. See the beta guide for the testing boundaries.
How a story works
A holder chooses exactly four content words; the word counter allows small connecting words to ride free. Words join the story when the bill successfully leaves the holder, through a confirmed sandbox handoff or release to the wild. A wild claim may return to the wild after 24 hours without a contribution. After 14 days without movement, a bill may end with a labeled AI eulogy and short closing.
Creators can write a finale when the app allows it. Other people can continue or fork stories. A goal is motivation, not a promise that a story will reach a particular length, place, or ending. The story can change in surprising or unwelcome ways, and we do not guarantee delivery, participation, or preservation of a beta record.
Your contributions and collaborative use
You retain whatever rights you have in your contributions. Submit only material you may lawfully share. To the extent you own rights in material you submit, you give the project a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, display, distribute, format, and adapt it as needed to operate and present Four Word Pass, including public stories, forks, previews, story emails, narration, and art.
This permission includes using service providers for those purposes and letting other participants continue or fork your contribution within the app. It is not a transfer of ownership. Public collaborators and recipients may already hold copies. If you want something removed, contact support; we assess requests, applicable rights, and the effect on other contributors. Do not submit secrets or material you need to keep confidential.
Keep it safe and invited
- Do not post threats, targeted harassment, hateful abuse, sexual content involving minors, personal contact details, private information, scams, or unlawful material.
- Do not infringe copyright or other people's rights, impersonate someone, or submit another person's private keys.
- Send a buck only to someone who has agreed to the invitation. Do not spam addresses, repeatedly invite someone who declined, or use stories as advertising campaigns.
- Do not bypass rate limits, probe private links, interfere with the service, automate unsolicited participation, or exploit payment flows.
Report an offending story or invitation at support@fourwordpass.com. Include its public serial and the relevant text, not a private action link. We may remove material, stop a story, restrict access, or retain evidence of abuse when appropriate.
Your private links
Holder, creator, and email-management links are access credentials. Keep them private and share only the public story URL. You are responsible for actions you authorize with your links. If you lose a key or think it was exposed, contact support; recovery or revocation may require manual work and is not always possible. Do not access or use someone else's key.
People choose words; AI gives the bill a voice
AI can suggest words, generate the bill's personality, diary and stamp art, and supply a labeled eulogy or short closing. You decide whether to use a suggestion. Generated material can be inaccurate, offensive, or similar to other material. Review it before using it, and treat the bill's narration as fiction rather than factual advice or a statement about a real person.
Beta availability and test transactions
The service is experimental and provided as available. Features, stories, delivery timing, and test records may change, fail, or be reset. We may pause or discontinue the beta. We will give notice of significant changes where reasonably practical.
No real-money refund is due for a sandbox transaction because the beta does not charge real money. If a test checkout or handoff fails, ask support for help; do not pay again through a live account. Any real-money version will need separate launch disclosures and payment terms before it is offered.
Responsibilities and legal rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not warrant uninterrupted service, error-free AI output, or the continued availability of beta data, and we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the experiment. You remain responsible for what you submit and whom you invite.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights, remedies, or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or a waiver of nonwaivable consumer rights.
Updates and contact
The effective date at the top identifies this version. If we materially change participation terms, we will publish the new version and provide notice in the app where appropriate. Continuing to participate after accepting updated terms applies those terms to your future activity.
